The article I wrote about Nutella was, both at the time and in retrospect, my favorite LAT story. It dragged me out of the chocolate closet and onto Facebook. And I ate Nutella by the jar, sitting at my desk at the Fluorescent Light Factory (the Times Mirror Bldg.), spoon in hand, chocolate on the keyboard.
Do a Google search for “Nutella,” the Italian hazelnut-chocolate spread that comes in a squat jar like peanut butter and is often found right next to it in grocery aisles, and you’ll get about 5 million results. Which is about twice what you get when you Google “chocolate chip cookies” — and several times as many as the phrase “Valentine’s Day chocolates.” You might want to remember that this weekend.
To continue reading my Nutella story, here’s the rest of the LAT article.

It was all I ate one summer in Perpignan.
and on another tangent, as usual, did you know that “google” is bigger than “god” on google trends? now i must go check and see if god wins over chocolate chip cookies and nutella, though what it signifies, i have no idea.
I loved your Nutella article. It inspired me to make praline paste, which is the sandier, non chocolate version of Nutella. I had grand plans of adding it to ice cream, cookies, oatmeal, but mostly I’ve eaten it with a spoon.
